– from Japan to Northern Norway
Join us on a journey from Japan to Northern Norway, via India, France and Switzerland.
The international magazine Gramophone describes this evening’s soloist Marianne Beate Kielland as such: “The mezzo-soprano is quite outstanding: strong, firm, sensitive in modulations, imaginative in her treatment of words, with a voice pure in quality, wide in range and unfalteringly true in intonation.”
This time we have the pleasure of hearing her perform three works based on poetry, and where the poetry and music take us on a journey from Japan to Northern Norway, via India, France and Switzerland:
Igor Stravinsky’s Three Japanese Lyrics, Maurice Delage’s Quatre poèmes hindous (1912–1913), based on classical music from India, and Maurice Ravel’s Trois poemes de Mallarme.
The orchestra will also perform the works Miniatures by Eivind Buene and Appearances by Rolf Wallin, both of which are on the album nominated for the Spellemann award in 2017 and which received rave reviews in the international media.
