During the Chess Olympiad 2014, the Arctic Philharmonic presents its largest production ever. More than 200 people will be involved in the gigantic production Chess in Concert in Tromsø on August 3 and 4. We promise a “once in a lifetime” experience with a star-studded cast that we are proud to present.
The plot of Chess is inspired by the super powers of the Soviet Union and USA during the Cold War and the World Chess Championship in 1972 between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky in the chess match known as the “Match of the Century”. The lyrics are written by Tim Rice and the music by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. Since the release of the concept album in 1984, the musical has been performed on Broadway and the West End in countless versions and the music has scaled the charts worldwide. Don’t miss the major concert experience of the year in Tromsø during the Chess Olympiad!
This production is a collaborative venture with the Norwegian Armed Forces’ Band North and the University Choir Mimas
