“It is a great honour that HRH Crown Prince Haakon wishes to be the patron of NOSO AS. This is a major recognition of what we at NOSO have accomplished,” says the Chief Executive and Artistic Director of NOSO, Rolf-Cato Raade.
HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway has become the Patron of NOSO AS.
This patronage also provides an opportunity for the Crown Prince, who has an interest in music, to become involved in NOSO’s activities and to attend and open our concerts. The patronage includes Tromsø Chamber Orchestra, Bodø Sinfonietta, Arctic Opera and Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra.
There is a long tradition of royal patronages within the Norwegian Royal Family. In former and more troubled times, a patronage often included physical protection in the form of soldiers/guards or a letter of protection from a king or a prince. Today a royal patronage functions as recognition of organisations and events within important sections of the society.
HRH Crown Prince Haakon’s royal patronage applies for a five-year period, from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015.
