Arctic Opera will perform Puccini's La Bohème in spring 2012 together with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra and its principal conductor, Christian Lindberg. Puccini's music and portrayals of the artistic environs in Paris are equally irresistible, whether you are hearing it for the first time or the tenth time.
In one of the most romantic dramas in opera history, we follow the romantic couple Mimi and Rodolfo from their first meeting on Christmas Eve in Paris, through a stormy love story, break up and their final reunion on Mimi’s deathbed.
The premiere of La Bohème will take place in April-May 2012, and opera singers from throughout the country have flocked to the Arctic Opera’s auditions. Almost 50 singers attended the audition at the Opera House in Oslo, while eight attempted to gain a role in La Bohème by singing at the audition in Tromsø, informs NOSO’s Opera Director Katharina Jakhelln Semb. Along with Sigrid Strøm Reibo, who will direct the performance of Puccini’s famous opera, the opera director is on the jury which will make the difficult decisions about which singers land the various roles.
The date for the premiere performance is yet to be finalised, but NOSO’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Ingrid Wiesener, promises Tromsø opera enthusiasts a wonderful, full stage version in April-May next year.
