The Arctic Philharmonic is pleased to inform that its collaboration with the Swedish star conductor Christian Lindberg will continue. Lindberg is the philharmonic orchestra’s principal conductor and his contract has now been extended until the end of 2018.
Alongside a successful career as a trombone soloist and composer, Lindberg is a highly sought-after conductor. He works with orchestras around the world, including in Prague, Liverpool, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Milan and Beijing. Lindberg has also previously worked as the artistic director and chief conductor of the Swedish Wind Ensemble and Nordic Chamber Orchestra.
“The Arctic Philharmonic has been through an incredible journey over the past six years. The orchestra has achieved national as well as international recognition with recordings of a high level and prestigious tours. Not least, the concerts in Vienna (Musikverein) and Salzburg (Grosse Festspielhaus) this year were important milestones in our ambitious effort. Everyone in the Arctic Philharmonic is very pleased that this excellent collaboration will continue. We look forward to all the exciting projects we are working towards as we enter the coming seasons,” says the CEO of the Arctic Philharmonic, Tor Lægreid.

"I am amazed over how well these artists delivered at the greatest and most prestigeous concert hall in the world, Musikverein, so when the orchestra formally asked me to continue there was no other answer than a huge YES!!!”, Lindberg says.
Christian Lindberg is an energetic and charismatic conductor who sets high goals. He thinks the North Norwegian collaboration, which has already lasted for six years, has been exciting. “The people in Northern Norway are so nice and it’s wonderful that there are so many with such a positive entrepreneurial spirit,” says Lindberg. “We have set high goals and I'm really proud of what the orchestra has achieved.”
