Edelweiss and sunshine
Welcome to a classical musical featuring magnificent music, a large ensemble on stage and musicians from the Arctic Philharmonic in a version translated to North Norwegian by Ragnar Olsen.
The hills will be alive
with the sound of music, and the flowers will blossom and shine like the sun.
Hålogaland Teater and the Arctic Philharmonic are joining forces to produce a
large-scale stage production directed by Ivar Tindberg, best known for the
long-time success of A Christmas Carol (Et juleeventyr). In addition, Hege Holte Østby has ended a long and successful dancing
career and returned home to her birthplace of Tromsø to create the choreography
for the production. Yngve Julin is responsible for the scenography.
In this grand version of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music, we will hear classics like “Edelweiss”, “The Sound of Music” and “My Favourite Things”. Scene Vest will be filled with beautiful sounds when mezzo-soprano Maria Nohr plays the role of Maria. Sondre Krogtoft Larsen will play the role of Georg von Trapp.
The music was written soon after World War II and is based on a true story. The combination of romance and darkness with music has made The Sound of Music immortal.
Premier: 12 October 2017, Scene Vest.
The production will tour in December 2017.
