Enjoy grand music on a small scale by Felix Mendelssohn and Richard Strauss.

The Arctic Philharmonic wants to show that we appreciate our subscribers by playing an exclusive concert featuring Richard Strauss’ Sonata for violin and piano in E flat major, Op.18 and Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49.

Perhaps you heard Richard Strauss on a grand scale in the opera Ariadne auf Naxos earlyer this year? At this exclusive event, Yuko and Sergej will play a Violin Sonata he wrote in 1888 just after falling in love. This will be followed by Brynjar, Håvard and Sergej playing Mendelssohn’s well-known Piano Trio from 1839. When Schumann heard this, he declared that Mendelssohn was the “Mozart of the 19th century”!

This concert is part of all the subscription series in Tromsø, and tickets may only be purchased through these.
