Café concert at Sinus
With a cup of coffee and pleasant atmosphere at Sinus, you can become better acquainted with four leading contemporary composers.
The British newspaper The Guardian wrote of Steve Reich: “There’s just a handful of living composers who can legitimately claim to have altered the direction of musical history and Steve Reich is one of them”. At Sinus, we will hear his New York Counterpoint with our own clarinettist Martin Anderson as soloist.
American composer Lee Hyla was fascinated by many types of music and was a master of combining expressions from classical music with avant-garde jazz, rock and sometimes even punk. Polish Folk Songs is inspired by memories from his grandmother’s funeral, who took place in a Polish neighbourhood in his hometown.
Tonight’s programme also features John Adams’ modern and minimalistic Shaker Loops, which features in films such as Barfly and I Am Love, as well British composer David Sawer’s work Rebus from 2004.
